Operation
7.22 Connecting several SINAMICS DCPs in parallel
SINAMICS DCP
406 Operating Instructions, 09/2019, A5E34382853K
For example, this operating mode can be practical in the following cases:
– The DCP devices are individually controlled from a higher-level control system,
e.g. if the devices are to be precharged with a time offset.
– Closed-loop voltage control with droop to address high dynamic requirements,
if the devices are to be separately switched-on and switched-off.
●
Parallel operation using a parallel interface
All DCP devices are connected with one another via a parallel interface.
One device is the master, and issues the individual setpoints to the slaves.
For example, this operating mode can be practical in the following cases:
– Controlling the group of DCP devices as one device.
– When using higher-level technological functions.
– Coupled operation of several parts of a PV array.
– Closed-loop voltage control with transfer of the current setpoints to the slaves to
address moderate requirements relating to the dynamic response.
– Closed-loop voltage control with droop to address high dynamic requirements, if the
devices are to be switched-on and switched-off together.
In this case, only the master is controlled from the higher-level control – or the voltage
controller or the higher-level technological function is only executed on the master. The
master then issues the current setpoint to the slaves.
Parallel interface
● The parallel interface allows a maximum of 15 SINAMICS DCP devices to communicate
with one another.
● They are connected via interfaces X165 and X166, which are located at the lower edge of
the Control Unit (CUD). The two interfaces are connected in parallel electrically, and can
be used to loop through the connection from one DCP to the next. See also "Figure 5-5
Block diagram with connection suggestion (Page 40)"
● The devices are connected using (8-pole) shielded patch cables, type UTP CAT5 in acc.
with ANSI/EIA/TIA 568, such as those that are used in PC network technology.
A standard, 5 m cable can be obtained directly from Siemens (article number: 6RY1707-
0AA08).
To connect n devices, (n-1) cables are required.
For the devices at the beginning and end of the data bus of the parallel interface, the bus
termination must be switched-in (p51805 = 1).
Note
Both connectors of the patch cable must have the same pin as
signment; a crossover
