Sheave drum inspection
1. Inspect:
9 Sheave drum
Cracks/wear/damage → Replace.
Spiral spring inspection
1. Inspect:
9 Spiral spring
Damage → Replace.
Starter rope inspection
1. Inspect:
9 Starter rope
Frays/wear/damage → Replace.
NOTE:
9 When replacing the rope, cut it to the
specified length and then burn its end so
it will not unravel.
9 Apply water resistant grease onto the
new starter rope.

Start-in-gear protection lever inspection
1. Inspect:
9 Start-in-gear protection lever
Cracks/wear/damage → Replace.
Drive pawl and spring inspection
1. Inspect:
9 Drive pawl
Cracks/wear/damage → Replace.
9 Drive pawl spring inspection
Damage → Replace.
Bushing inspection
1. Inspect:
9 Bushing
Cracks/damage → Replace.
Starter rope length:
1,800 mm (70.9 in)
