Battery (EH/E models)

Battery electrolyte is dangerous; it contains
sulfuric acid which is poisonous and highly
caustic.
Always follow these preventive measures:
9 Avoid bodily contact with electrolyte as it
can cause severe burns or permanent eye
injury.
9 Wear protective eye gear when handling
or working near batteries.
Antidote (EXTERNAL):
9 SKIN - Wash with water.
9 EYES - Flush with water for 15 minutes
and get immediate medical attention.
Antidote (INTERNAL):
9 Drink large quantities of water or milk fol-
lowed with milk of magnesia, beaten egg
or vegetable oil. Get immediate medical
attention.
Batteries generate explosive, hydrogen
gas. Always follow these preventive mea-
sures:
9 Charge batteries in a well-ventilated area.
9 Keep batteries away from fire, sparks or
open flames (e.g., welding equipment,
lighted cigarettes, etc.).
9 DO NOT SMOKE when charging or han-
dling batteries.
KEEP BATTERIES AND ELECTROLYTE OUT
OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
NOTE:
9 Batteries vary among manufacturers.
Consult your battery manufacturer’s
instructions.
9 First, disconnect the negative lead, then
the positive lead.
1. Check:
9 Battery fluid level
Below the minimum level mark Add
distilled water to the proper level.
9 Battery fluid specific gravity
Less than 1.280 Recharge the bat-
tery.
Battery fluid specific gravity:
1.280 at 20°C (68°F)
