1-2 Characteristics of the Training
DAC
The DUT board for the mixed-signal training includes two mutually
independent components – a DAC and an ADC.
These devices have been chosen because
• they are not part of an ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated
Circuit)
• they are well documented
The DAC is the high speed 8-bit D/A converter THS5641A from
Texas Instruments with an update rate of up to 100 Msamples/s.
NOTE The data sheet of the DAC is included in the Appendix.
Test Setup
DAC tests are generally set up as shown below:
Setup for Testing a DAC
The DAC is stimulated by the digital pin electronics. The analog
response will be captured by the High Speed Digitizer.
