5-1 Functions of the Mixed-Signal Tool
The Mixed-Signal Tool comprises tools for
• generating and downloading waveforms to be used as device
stimulus
• displaying and analyzing result waveforms
• saving and restoring waveforms
• viewing waveforms that were saved in an Event Datalog file.
Functions of the Mixed-Signal Tool
Waveform Generation Tools
Several tools support the generation of arbitrary waveforms:
• WAVEFORM EDITOR for generating DC or standard periodic
waveforms, such as sine, cosine, square, triangle, ramp.
• WAVEFORM EQUATION for generating waveforms based on
mathematical functions.
• MULTITONE-TOOL for easy generation of multitone waveforms
• POINT-BY-POINT for generating waveforms based on data points.
NOTE The Mixed-Signal Tool supports also the testing of LAN devices, such
as transceivers, repeaters, and switch controllers.
The functions provided for that purpose are:
• GENERATE BINARY SEQUENCE
