Due to the response time of the sensors and the gas sample flow rate, the stated accuracy of O2,
CO2, N2O and anesthetic agents is limited by respiratory rate and inspiratory to expiratory (I:E)
ratio. The effect of respiratory rate and I:E ratio settings on accuracy were determined in a
simulated breathing system using square wave gas concentration waveforms.
