10.1MaintainingtheMC40
Fortrouble-freeservice,observethefollowingtipswhenusingtheMC40:
•DonotscratchthescreenoftheMC40.WhenworkingwiththeMC40,useonlyanger.Neveruseanactual
penorpencilorothersharpobjectonthesurfaceoftheMC40screen.
•Thetouch-sensitivescreenoftheMC40isglass.DonottodroptheMC40orsubjectittostrongimpact.
•ProtecttheMC40fromtemperatureextremes.Donotleaveitonthedashboardofacaronahotday,and
keepitawayfromheatsources.
•DonotstoreorusetheMC40inanylocationthatisdusty,damp,orwet.
•UseasoftlensclothtocleantheMC40.IfthesurfaceoftheMC40screenbecomessoiled,cleanitwithasoft
clothmoistenedwithadilutedwindow-cleaningsolution.
•Periodicallyreplacetherechargeablebatterytoensuremaximumbatterylifeandproductperformance.Battery
lifedependsonindividualusagepatterns.
10.2BatterySafetyGuidelines
•Theareainwhichtheunitsarechargedshouldbeclearofdebrisandcombustiblematerialsorchemicals.
Particularcareshouldbetakenwherethedeviceischargedinanoncommercialenvironment.
•Followbatteryusage,storage,andchargingguidelinesfoundinthisguide.
•Improperbatteryusemayresultinare,explosion,orotherhazard.
•Tochargethemobiledevicebattery,thebatteryandchargertemperaturesmustbebetween+32ºFand+104ºF
(0ºCand+40ºC)
•Donotuseincompatiblebatteriesandchargers.Useofanincompatiblebatteryorchargermaypresentarisk
ofre,explosion,leakage,orotherhazard.Ifyouhaveanyquestionsaboutthecompatibilityofabatteryora
charger,contactMotorolaSolutionsGlobalCustomerSupportCenter.
•FordevicesthatutilizeaUSBportasachargingsource,thedeviceshallonlybeconnectedtoproductsthatbear
theUSB-IFlogoorhavecompletedtheUSB-IFcomplianceprogram.
•Donotdisassembleoropen,crush,bendordeform,puncture,orshred.
•Severeimpactfromdroppinganybattery-operateddeviceonahardsurfacecouldcausethebatterytooverheat.
•Donotshortcircuitabatteryorallowmetallicorconductiveobjectstocontactthebatteryterminals.
•Donotmodifyorremanufacture,attempttoinsertforeignobjectsintothebattery,immerseorexposetowateror
otherliquids,orexposetore,explosion,orotherhazard.
•Donotleaveorstoretheequipmentinornearareasthatmightgetveryhot,suchasinaparkedvehicleorneara
radiatororotherheatsource.Donotplacebatteryintoamicrowaveovenordryer.
•Batteryusagebychildrenshouldbesupervised.
