5.3 Provisioning service entities
The nodes in a VC are represented as the cards of a chassis. Each card is assigned a slot number. Using
the slot number, services are provisioned on the card using the format slot-number/mda-number/port-
number:sap-id, where the slot-number is configured for every node/card, the mda-number is always set to
1 for all 7210 SAS-Sx/S 1/10GE platforms supporting VC, and the port-number corresponds to the front-
panel Ethernet port number and ranges from 1 to 28 or from 1 to 52 for 7210 SAS-Sx/S 1/10GE platforms.
5.4 Preprovisioning a VC
To preprovision a VC, users must configure the card-type for the slot they want to preprovision. When
the card type is configured, the ports are automatically created for that slot, allowing configuration of the
services using the ports of the slot.
