ABL77 Service Manual Chapter 4: Test and Calibration Procedures
Valve Test Procedures, Continued
Follow these steps to test valve L3.
Testing valve L3
NOTE: Ensure no luer caps and/or forceps are in place.
Step Action
1.
Disconnect the tubing at the normally open port of valve L3.
2.
Apply the syringe to the Cal1 luer at the manifold.
3.
Apply a vacuum to the Cal1 luer, the path must not hold a vacuum. If
a vacuum is present, then L3 is malfunctioning, continue to next
section, Repairing malfunctioning valves.
4.
Apply the syringe to the Cal1 luer; press Pump Cal2 on the
Hardware screen.
5.
Apply a vacuum to the Cal1 luer, the path must hold a vacuum
(generally only two to three pulls can be performed).
If a vacuum is not present then L3 valve is malfunctioning.
Continue to next section, Repairing malfunctioning valves.
If a vacuum is present then L3 is not malfunctioning.
6.
Reconnect the tubing.

Obtain single valve kits (REF: 902-791) to replace all malfunctioning valves. For
a system that has an older tubing configuration, the necessary tubing is included
with the valve kit. The single valve kit also includes a Y-cable and instructions
for converting an older style valve board.
