Chapter 6: Replacements ABL77 Service Manual
Single Valve
Introduction
This procedure describes the process for replacing a valve on the valve board with
replaceable valves only.
Use the valve test procedure (see Chapter 4 – Valve Test Procedure) to determine
which valve is malfunctioning.
NOTE:
Wear suitable protective gear during this procedure.
Be prepared to collect fluids exiting the tubing connections as tubing is
disconnected and removed.
The valve board may be removed to facilitate replacement of the valve board
tubing.
Removing the
old valve
Follow these steps to remove a malfunctioning valve.
Step Action
1.
Select Shutdown from the Main Menu
Select Long-Term Storage and perform this procedure.
This procedure will remove all liquid from the internal tubing and
prevent fluid from contacting the electronics during tubing
removal. Failure to remove all fluid may result in damage to the
electronics.
2.
Disconnect the lower module according to the instructions in this
chapter.
Disconnect the cables from the lower module
Disconnect the manifold tubing from the lower module
3.
Using scissors, carefully trim 3/8" to 1/2" (9.5 to 12.7 mm) off the
disconnected ends of the manifold tubing. Make sure the ends are neat
and square.
NOTE: The manifold tubing may be trimmed until the length makes
re-assembly of the analyzer difficult. If the tubing has been trimmed to
a length that makes re-assembly difficult, replace the manifold (REF:
924-297).
4.
To prevent crystallization and to avoid discrepancies of age among the
tubing elements, all tubing is replaced when a single valve is changed.
a) Disconnect and remove all existing tubing from the valves and
waste drain path.
b) Discard tubing appropriately.
