BRIDGED (Bridged Input)
This keyword provides a method for setting any of the inputs 1-4 to expect a
bridged rather than a terminated DS1 input. A bridged connection will typically
have signal levels at about 1/10 (or 20 dB down) from the normally terminated
DS1 input (nominally 3 volt peak into 100 ohm). Use of this setting causes signal
conditioning circuitry associated with the selected input channel to appropriately
adjust to expect the lower signal strength associated with a bridged input. To
configure an input channel to expect a bridged input, set the BRIDGED setting for
that channel to Y. The keyword format is:
BRIDGED=<value>;
Note:
The BRIDGED setting applies only to inputs 1-4. Clock cards that have
inputs 5-8, which are used only for DS1 performance monitoring, are not
configurable but always expect bridged inputs.
Command Examples:
Enable BRIDGED mode for input 3:
ED-SYNC::CLK-3:SV13:::BRIDGED=Y;
This is the response:
SYMMBITS 03-03-24 09:10:50
M SV13 COMPLD
;
To retrieve the BRIDGED setting for input 4, send:
RTRV-SYNC::CLK-4:SC14:::PARAMETER=BRIDGED;
Parameter Value Description
<value> Y The selected input will expect a bridged input
N The selected input will NOT expect a bridged
input. In other words, it will expect a normally
terminated DS1 signal. This is the default
