FREEACT (Freerun Action)
This keyword provides a method for controlling whether or not the shelf will be
allowed to generate outputs when in FREERUN mode. The clock cards have an
LED on their front panel that indicates when in freerun mode. Freerun occurs just
after the clock card completes warmup (also indicated with an LED) but has yet to
qualify a input timing reference. If there is a valid timing reference connected, the
freerun condition will be brief (usually less than a minute). If there is no valid
timing reference connected, the clock card will remain in freerun indefinitely.
During freerun, the clock card uses its internal oscillator as the timing source for
output generation. The keyword format is:
FREEACT=<value>
Notes:
• This feature is available in firmware versions 4142B and later.
• The default FREEACT setting for a clock in a master shelf is CONTINUE.
This means that, for a master shelf, output will normally be possible when
in freerun.
• The default FREEACT setting for a clock in a remote shelf is SQUELCH.
This means that, for a remote shelf, output will normally NOT be possible
when in freerun.
• For output to be possible when in freerun mode, not only must
FREEACT=CONTINUE but the selected output port must be enabled and in
service (see "In Service" and "Squelch Output" keyword topics).
Parameter Value Description
<value> CONTINUE The shelf will be capable of generating outputs when
in freerun mode.
SQUELCH The shelf will NOT be capable of generating outputs
when in freerun mode.
