13 Glossary
13-4 *) Component of the Freelance 2000 System
-B-
Basic unit The AC 800F (AC 800F) is delivered as an already assembled basic unit.
Batt low LED Indicates that no battery is connected or the connected battery is empty.
Lights up yellow if the battery is empty.
Battery
buffer battery SB 808F
Battery holder SY 809F Used for holding the buffer battery
Battery module AM 801F Battery module for redundant battery buffering of the CPU board
PM 802F. It provides for AC 800F RAM data retention when the AC 800F
is switched off or has no Ethernet module.
Battery module AM 811F Battery module for redundant battery buffering of the CPU board
PM 802F or PM 803F. It provides for AC 800F RAM data retention when
the AC 800F is switched off or has no Ethernet module.
Battery (LED) Status indicator for the AM 811F, EI 811F, EI 812F and EI 813F modules.
The following states can be indicated:
Off When the AC 800F is on and the module is not activated,
buffering is realized via the power unit.
When the AC 800F is off and the module is not activated,
buffering is realized via the module battery. No function
monitoring of the module battery.
Green Sufficient buffering time
Orange Less than 50 hours buffering time remaining
Red No buffer battery or battery low
Boot Loader Basic software of the AC 800F; capable of loading an operating system
into the AC 800F via the Ethernet. The bootstrap of the operating system
is done by the engineering station.
Bootstrap Loading the operating system into the flash EPROM of an "empty"
AC 800F. Not required if the operating system is loaded together with the
application program (menu item: Load whole station).
Bridge Couples two Ethernet segments. Contrary to a repeater a bridge is
capable of filtering data packets and, thus, can provide for load
separation of two Ethernet segments.
Buffer battery SB 808F Every AC 800F Ethernet module is provided with a buffer battery which
provides for CMOS-RAM data retention in case of a power failure. Can
be plugged in the module with the aid of battery holder SY 809F. The
buffer battery is not rechargeable.
Buffer battery holder SY 809F Battery holder for installing the buffer battery in the Ethernet module and
in the Battery module. Allows for battery replacement while the AC 800F
is running.
