Configuring QoS Priority Parameters for SVLANs
Note. The information in this section pertains to port-based (legacy mode) VLAN Stacking. The service-
based VLAN Stacking provides service profiles for configuring traffic engineering policies, such as prior-
ity mapping. See “Configuring Service-Based VLAN Stacking” on page 6-15 for more information.
The SVLAN tag may obtain its QoS priority value from a specified fixed value, through application of a
QoS stamp policy, or when the ToS/DSCP value from the ingress packet is mapped to the SVLAN tag. By
default, the SVLAN priority value is set to zero (0).
Note that this implementation of VLAN Stacking does not allow the configuration of a fixed priority value
through the vlan svlan svid priority command. As a result, it is necessary to follow the guidelines below
when configuring QoS priority parameters for SVLANs:
Configure user-customer, user-provider, and network ports as QoS trusted ports. Use the qos trust
ports command to globally set the trust mode for all switch ports or the qos port trusted command to
set the trust mode for individual ports. Note that for a link aggregate, setting the trust mode for each
member port of the aggregate is required.
Use a QoS 802.1p stamp policy to assign a fixed priority value to the SVLAN tag. For example:
-> policy condition SVLAN1000 vlan 1000
-> policy action P7 802.1p 7
-> policy rule SVLAN1000_P7 condition SVLAN1000 action P7
-> qos apply
When using a priority mapping scheme for an SVLAN, priority and outer 802.1p values for IP packets
are mapped from the ToS/DSCP value contained in the ingress packet. Note that priority mapping for
non-IP packets is not done; the priority value in this case is always set to zero (0).
Use the QoS inner source vlan and inner 802.1p policy conditions to classify packets based on the
VLAN ID or 802.1p value of the CVLAN (inner tag).
Use the QoS source vlan and 802.1p policy conditions to classify packets based on the VLAN ID or
802.1p value of the SVLAN (outer tag).
QoS 802.1p stamp policies only change the 802.1p value of the SVLAN (outer tag).
Refer to the “Configuring QoS” chapter in this guide for more information about QoS configuration and
policies.
