Combo Port Application Example
The figure below shows a sample application example for using OmniSwitch 6800 Series combo ports.
Workstations A and B are connected with 100 Mbps links to copper combo ports 1/45 and 1/46, respec-
tively. (SFP combo ports 1/45 and 1/46 are unused.) Server A has a primary 1 Gbps fiber connection to
combo SFP connector 1/47 and a backup 100 Mbps connection to copper combo port 1/47. And the
OmniSwitch 9700 has a primary 1 Gbps connection to combo SFP connector 1/48 and a backup 100 MBps
connection to copper combo port 1/48.
Combo Port Application Example
Follow the steps below to configure this application example:
1 Set the speed of copper combo ports 1/45 through 1/48 to 100 Mbps with the interfaces hybrid speed
command by entering:
-> interfaces 1/45-48 hybrid copper speed 100
2 Set copper combo ports 1/45 and 1/46 to forced copper mode—which will ensure the links stay up even
if a cable is plugged into SFP combo ports 1/45/ and 1/46—with the interfaces hybrid forced-copper
command by entering:
-> interfaces 1/45-46 hybrid forced-copper
