Flow Chart 0-13 E115 Or E116 Error Code
E115-116
NEEDLE MOTOR FUSE BLOWN, MOTOR STALLED, OR BAD ENCODER
These error codes are set when the controller is trying to move the needle, but the needle either isn't
moving or the controller cannot tell that the motor is moving. E115 occurs only during the homing
sequence. E116 occurs only at other times.
SAFETY WARNING:
The following troubleshooting procedure may require that tests be made with the electrical
enclosures open and power turned “ON”. These tests should only be conducted by authorized
personnel who are aware of the electrical and mechanical hazards present.
The most likely reason for this error is a mechanical obstruction or
jam which is preventing the needle from moving as needed. With
power turned “OFF”, turn the needle motor thru its complete range of
motion (MTR1) < 360°, check for debris, is a jam present?
Clear jam.
Replace
F1.
Is F1 on Aux
board blown?
After checking for jams does motor:
A. not move at all?
B. move in only one direction?
C. take off (racing) before faulting?
See Flow
Chart 4-27.
Does MTR2 and
or MTR3 move?
Replace F1, retest if
issue persists check
Aux board, MTR1 and
wiring, for wear and
damage, replace as
necessary.
Is F1 on Aux
board blown?
Check wiring, MTR1,
Aux board and CPU for
wear and damage,
replace as necessary.
Check encoder LEDs PH A and PH B on FTB while
rotating motor by hand is LED sequence* good?
Replace Aux board, if issue
persists replace CPU.
Check wiring
connection, if wiring
good replace motor
encoder.
Is 5VDC present
on FTB across
J3(+) and J3(-)?
Replace FTB check Aux
board 96 PIN connector
for bent pins before
installing new FTB.
Is 5VDC present at
MTR1 encoder?
Encoder faulty, replace
encoder.
Faulty wiring, check
CBL1, PL1 and CBL2,
replace as necessary.
