You can enter as many static IP addresses as necessary.
To view the configured routes, use the
show ip route static command (Figure 14-3).

FTOS installs a next hop that is on the directly connected subnet of the current IP address on the interface
(for example, if interface tengig 0/0 is on 172.31.5.0 subnet, FTOS installs the static route).
FTOS also installs a next hop that is not on the directly connected subnet but which recursively resolves to
a next hop on the interface's configured subnet. For example, if tengig 0/0 has ip address on subnet 2.2.2.0
and if 172.31.5.43 recursively resolves to 2.2.2.0, FTOS installs the static route.
When an interface goes down, FTOS withdraws the route.
Command Syntax Command Mode Purpose
ip route ip-address mask {ip-address |
interface [ip-address]} [distance]
[permanent] [tag tag-value]
CONFIGURATION Configure a static IP address. Use the following
required and optional parameters:
ip-address: Enter an address in dotted decimal
format (A.B.C.D).
mask: Enter a mask in slash prefix-length
format (/X).
interface: Enter an interface type followed by
slot/port information.
distance range: 1 to 255 (optional).
permanent: Keep the static route in the routing
table (if
interface option is used) even if the
interface with the route is disabled. (optional)
tag tag-value range: 1 to 4294967295.
