When the boot process is complete, the console monitor displays the Dell Force10 operating software
(FTOS) banner and EXEC mode prompt (Figure 3-2).
For details about using the command line interface (CLI), refer to the Accessing the Command Line
section in the Configuration Fundamentals chapter.
Console access
The MXL 10/40GbE Switch IO Module has two management ports available for system access: a serial
console port and an out-of-bounds (OOB) port.
Serial Console
A universal serial bus (USB) (A-Type) connector is located at the front panel. The USB can be defined as
an External Serial Console (RS-232) port, and is labeled on the MXL 10/40GbE Switch IO Module
chassis. The USB is present on the lower side, as you face the I/O side of the chassis (Figure 3-1).
