8.3.11 Arc correction (G264/G265).
In order to execute the programmed arc, the CNC calculates the initial and end radii, which
must be the same. When this is not the case, the CNC attempts to execute the arc by
correcting its center along the tool path. The tolerance allowed for the difference between
both radii or for locating the corrected arc center is set by the OEM (parameters CIRINERR
and CIRINFACT). Arc center correction may be turned on and off using the following
functions:
Programming. Activate arc correction (G265).
The function G265 may be programmed alone in the block or it may be added to a movement
block. This function is modal; after it has been programmed, it remains active until an
incompatible function is programmed (G264).
Programming format.
The programming format is:
G265
Arc correction using G265.
If the initial and final arc radii are not the same, the CNC tries to calculate a new center within
the set tolerance so as to be able to execute and arc between the programmed points as
close as possible to the defined arc. To calculate whether the margin of error is within the
tolerance, the CNC takes into account the absolute error (difference between radii) and the
relative error (% of radius). If any of these values is within the tolerance set by the OEM, the
CNC corrects the center position.
If the CNC cannot the center within those limits, it will issue the pertinent error message.
Programming. Cancel arc correction (G264).
The function G264 may be programmed alone in the block or it may be added to a movement
block. This function is modal; after it has been programmed, it remains active until an
incompatible function is programmed (G265).
Programming format.
The programming format is:
G264
Arc correction using G264.
When the difference between the initial and final radii is within the allowed tolerance, the CNC
executes the arc with the radius calculated using the initial point, maintaining the position
of the center.
If the difference between both radii exceeds the allowed tolerance, the relevant error
message will be issued.
G264 Cancel arc correction.
G265 Activate arc correction.
