5.3 Brakes
For braking, your e-bike has two brakes:
One brake brakes the front wheel, the other
brake brakes the rear wheel
12
.
Your e-bike has one or more of the following
brake types:
A disc brake.
For use, observe the information in
chapter 14.2 “Disc brakes”.
A rim brake.
For use, observe the information in
chapter 14.3 “Rim brakes”.
A coaster brake.
For use, observe the information in
chapter 14.4 “Coaster brakes”.
WARNING!
Risk of accident and injury
Tires have reduced grip on slick, wet,
slippery or dirty road surfaces. As a
result, braking power decreases, the
braking distance increases and your
e-bike can skid when it is braked abruptly.
Always adapt your cycling style and
speed to the respective road charac-
teristics and weather conditions.
If you brake the front wheel too abruptly,
you can fly over the handlebars or fall.
If possible, always brake simultane-
ously with both brakes (front and
rear brake) at high speed.
Adjust your braking behavior and
braking force to the respective
cycling situation.
If you brake the rear wheel too abruptly,
it may lock.
Brake carefully in curves with the
rear brake.
Incorrect or unsuitable brake compo-
nents and incorrect adjustments of the
brake components can impair the func-
tion of the brakes or cause the brake to
fail completely.
12 In addition to the coaster brake, your e-bike may have
another brake that also acts on the rear wheel.
Have brake components replaced
exclusively by a FLYER specialist
dealer and only with original spare
parts.
Brakes are safety-related components.
With incorrectly adjusted brakes, acci-
dents and serious injuries can occur.
Always have your brake adjusted by
a FLYER specialist dealer.
After having the brake adjusted,
always perform a brake test to famil-
iarize yourself with any changes in
braking behavior.
5.4 Pushing the e-bike
(pushing aid)
Your e-bike has a higher weight than bicy-
cles without electric assistance due to the
additional components of the electric drive
system. Therefore, electric drive systems
often have a pushing aid. With this function,
the electric drive assists you in pushing the
e-bike up to a maximum speed of 6 km/h
without having to pedal.
For the use of the pushing aid, observe
the information in the corresponding man-
ufacturer's manual for your electric drive.
WARNING!
Risk of accident and injury
The pushing aid is intended exclusively
for pushing the e-bike. Any other use or
unintentional startup of the e-bike can
result in accidents and injuries.
Do not use the pushing aid while sit-
ting on the e-bike, but rather only for
pushing.
Do not allow anyone to sit on the
e-bike while you are pushing it.
Hold the e-bike securely with both
hands when pushing it and make
sure that the wheel set is in contact
with the ground.
CAUTION!
Risk of injury!
When pushing with the pushing aid, the
pedals may rotate slowly and you may
injure yourself.
