Clean and maintain your e-bike after every
ride to prevent functional impairments due
to dirt.
Instructions for cleaning your e-bike and
its components can be found in chapter 8
“Cleaning and care”.
Important: After cycling in rain,
snow or wetconditions, you must
carry out the following steps to pre-
vent immediate loss of function of
the affected components.
• Clean the chain and then oil it with a suitable
lubricant approved by the manufacturer.
• Clean the brake and gear shift compo-
nents.
• Check that all components are sufficiently
lubricated.
Ask your FLYER specialist dealer
to instruct you as to which components
need to be oiled and how to carry out this
task.
7.3 Regular inspection of
the components
• Check your e-bike every six months for
signs of wear (see chapter 9 “Mainte-
nance and replacement of wear parts”).
7.4 After a fall
Important: Do NOT continue
cycling after a fall and do not simply
screw loose parts back into place.
Have your e-bike and all compo-
nents checked by a FLYER special-
ist dealer first.
WARNING!
Risk of accident
In the case of components made of
composite materials (e.g. carbon),
damage might not be apparent to the
cyclist.
• After an accident or tip-over, com-
posite components must either be
sent to the manufacturer for inspec-
tion or be destroyed and replaced.
A professional check after a fall includes the
following points in particular:
• The frame and fork must be carefully
checked.
Deformations can usually be clearly seen
from various angles across the surfaces.
• Are the saddle, seat post, stem and han-
dlebars still in the correct position?
If this is not the case, DO NOT move
the component back from its changed
position without opening the associated
screw connection. Observe the specified
tightening torque when reaffixing.
Torque: See the model-specific
information in the applicable Tech-
nical Data document.
• Test that both wheels are seated correctly
and securely in the frame and fork and
that the front and rear wheels turn freely.
In the case of wheel sets with disc brakes, an
expert can see from the distance between
the tire and the frame or fork whether the
concentricity of the wheel is intact.
• Test both brakes for full function.
• Is the chain or belt resting securely on the
chainring and pinion or on both pulleys?
• Check whether an error message or a
warning appears on the display of the
e-bike.
Do not ride your e-bike if a warning is
displayed, but rather contact your FLYER
specialist dealer immediately.
• Check that the display and battery are
undamaged.
Do not ride your e-bike if there are any
changes (cracks, scratches, etc.). First have
your FLYER specialist dealer check all com-
ponents and replace them if necessary.
WARNING!
Risk of electric shock
If the outer casing of the battery is dam-
aged, there is a risk of moisture or
water penetration. This can lead to
short circuits and electric shocks.
• Never use or charge a damaged bat-
tery!
