2LM and 1LM configuration rules are slightly dif
ferent.
Memory Mode (2LM)
–
In "Memory" Mode Apache Pass is configured as Volatile Memory.
–
In this mode DDR4 DIMMs act as "write back" cache to the Apache Pass on
the DIMM channel within the same memory controller only.
–
Recommended DDR4 DRAM to Apache Pass capacity ratio is 1:8.
–
Min 1 DDR4 DIMM + 1 AEP per IMC.
–
Populate DDR4 across all available memory channels to maximize
bandwidth.
–
If only 1 DDR4 is populated on the channel then populate it in slot1 (1A, 1B,
…).

App Direct Mode (1LM)
–
In "App Direct" Mode memory is persistent like storage and byte
addressable like memory
.
–
Applications are responsible for making data persistent. App Direct mode
requires OS/SW stack modifications.
–
Min 1 DDR4 DIMM per IMC (i.e. 2 DDR4 per CPU).
–
Min 1 AEP which must be on IMC0.
–
If only 1 DDR4 is populated on the channel then populate it in slot1 (1A, 1B,
…).
