7.2 Basic information
The HDD or SSD and the installation frame together make up the HDD module
or SSD module.
The server is shipped with an 2.5-inch HDD/SSD subsystem:
–
Up to 16 2.5-inch SAS/SA
TA HDD/SSD modules can be installed.
–
Up to 12 2.5-inch PCIe SSD modules can be installed.
–
Up to 12 2.5-inch PCIe SSD modules and four SAS/SATA HDDs can be
installed.
–
Up to four 2.5-inch PCIe SSD modules and 12 SAS/SATA HDDs can be
installed.
–
Eight 2.5-inch PCIe SSD modules or eight SAS/SATA HDD/SSD modules as
combo drive can be installed.
The HDD/SSD/PCIe SSD modules are connected to the HDD backplane
wirelessly. This allows HDD/SSD modules to be connected or pulled out easily.
If the HDD/SSD/PCIe SSD modules are controlled by a RAID controller,
defective HDD/SSD/PCIe SSD modules can also be replaced during operation.
In the configuration with up to 16 HDD/SSD modules, you need an SAS
controller for SAS functionality
.
To use full SAS speed the HDD backplane must be connected to the
appropriate SAS3.0 capable RAID controller.
In the configuration with up to 16 HDD/SSD modules, 2.5-inch SATA
drives can be connected to SAS controller of the system board.
The configuration with up to 16 HDD/SSD modules works with a 2 or 4
CPU (each CPU with <= 165 W) configuration or Liquid Cooling
configuration.
The configuration with up to 12 PCIe SSD modules and 4 HDD/SSD
modules works only with 4 CPU (each CPU with <=165 W)
configurationor Liquid Cooling configuration. Bays 0 to 3 can only be
used for HDD/SSD modules.
In a 4 CPU configuration the bays 0 to 3 can only be used for SAS/SATA
HDDs/SSDs.
