Limiting the Range of Multicast Forwarding
In the IPv6 network, the multicast information each multicast group corresponds to is transmitted
in a certain range. In the S7700, you can define the multicast forwarding range by using the
following methods:
l Configuring an IPv6 multicast forwarding boundary on an interface to form a closed
multicast forwarding area
l Setting the TTL threshold for IPv6 multicast forwarding on an interface to limit the range
in which an IPv6 multicast packet can be forwarded
Configuring Control Parameters of the IPv6 Multicast Forwarding Table
In network planning for multicast services, you can set limits on the number of entries in an IPv6
multicast forwarding table and number of downstream interfaces of a single forwarding entry
in the IPv6 multicast forwarding table.
14.3 Configuring the IPv6 Multicast Routing Policy
Multicast routing policies can be implemented by configuring the IPv6 multicast load splitting
function and setting an IPv6 multicast load splitting weight.
14.3.1 Establishing the Configuration Task
Before configuring IPv6 multicast routing policies, familiarize yourself with the applicable
environment, pre-configuration tasks, and required data. This can help you complete the
configuration task quickly and accurately.
Applicable Environment
If multiple unicast routes with the same cost exist when a switch enabled with IPv6 multicast
selects the upstream interface, you can use one of the following methods to configure the
switch to select the RPF route:
l By default, the switch selects the route with the highest next-hop address.
l Load splitting is configured among equal-cost routes. Performing load splitting of multicast
traffic according to different policies can optimize network traffic transmission in the
scenario where multiple multicast data flows exist.
