13.14.2 Example for Configuring PIM GR (IPv6)
Networking Requirements
In a multicast application, if the active/standby switchover occurs on the device, the new master
MPU deletes multicast forwarding entries from the LPUs and relearns PIM routes and multicast
forwarding entries. During this process, multicast traffic is interrupted.
The PIM GR function on an IPTV network protects the core devices and edge devices. When
an active/standby switchover occurs, the PIM GR function ensures that the multicast data is
forwarded normally. This improves the fault tolerance capability of the devices on the IPTV
network.
