Applicable Environment
In the IPv6 network, the multicast information each multicast group corresponds to is transmitted
in a certain range. In the S7700, you can define the IPv6 multicast forwarding range by using
the following methods:
l Configuring an IPv6 multicast forwarding boundary on an interface to form a closed
multicast forwarding area. When an interface of a switch is configured with the forwarding
boundary for a group, the interface does not forward or receive any packet for the group.
Pre-configuration Tasks
Before limiting the range of multicast forwarding, complete the following tasks:
l Configuring a unicast routing protocol
l Configuring basic multicast functions
Data Preparation
To limit the range of multicast forwarding, you need the following data.
No. Data
1 Group address, mask, and mask length of the IPv6 multicast forwarding boundary
2 TTL threshold for IPv6 multicast forwarding
14.4.2 Configuring the IPv6 Multicast Forwarding Boundary on an
Interface
When an interface on a multicast device is configured with a forwarding boundary for a specified
group, the forwarding scope of IPv6 multicast packets is restricted.
Context
By default, the IPv6 multicast forwarding boundary is not set on an interface.
Do as follows on the multicast switch:
Procedure
Step 1 Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2 Run:
interface vlanif interface-number
The interface view is displayed.
Step 3 Run:
multicast ipv6 boundary ipv6-group-address ipv6-group-mask-length
