The function diagram for the EOP sensor includes the
following:
• EOP sensor
• Electronic Control Module (ECM)
• ENGINE lamp (amber and red)
Function
The EOP sensor is a variable capacitance sensor
installed in the left side of the crankcase below and
left of the fuel filter housing. The ECM supplies a
5 V reference signal which the EOP sensor uses
to produce a linear analog voltage that indicates oil
pressure.
An optional feature, the Engine Warning and
Protection System (EWPS), can be enabled to
warntheengineoperatorandshuttheenginedown
when a low engine oil pressure condition occurs.
