4.3 Configuring with a GSD file
Introduction
You can use the GSD file to configure the ET 200pro with an (older) STEP 7 ver-
sion, COM PROFIBUS or with other software. To do so, you must first install the
GSD file in the configuration software.
Requirements
You require a GSD file that you can download from the Internet at:

• Interface module IM 154-1 DP: GSD file SIEM8118.GSG
• Interface module IM 154-2 DP high feature: GSD file SIEM8119.GSG
Configuring the ET 200pro at the PROFIBUS DP with STEP 7
1. Start STEP 7 and in HW Config open the menu command Extras > Install
new GSD file.
2. In the dialog that appears, select the GSD file to be installed and confirm
with OK. Consequence: The ET 200pro is displayed in the hardware catalog
in the PROFIBUS-DP directory.

The remaining procedure is identical to that for ’Configuring with STEP 7’.
Configuring the ET 200pro on the PROFIBUS DP with COM PROFIBUS or other
configuration software
1. Copy the GSD file for ET 200pro into the COM PROFIBUS directory
...COMPB5\GSD (default setting). Copy the bitmap file into the directory
...COMPB5\BITMAPS.
2. Start COM PROFIBUS and open the menu command File > Import GSD file.
Consequence: The ET 200pro is displayed in the hardware catalog at the
slave configuration.
3. Start COM PROFIBUS or the configuration software.
4. Integrate the GSD file in COM PROFIBUS or in the configuration software
(see 'Requirements').Requirements
5. Configure the ET 200pro with COM PROFIBUS and/or the configuration soft-
ware.
6. Parameterize the ET 200pro with COM PROFIBUS and/or the configuration
software.
7. Save the configuration or load the configuration into the DP master.
