2.5 Use in hazardous areas
The following warnings apply to operating a device with Ex approval in hazardous areas.
Do not plug or pull connectors in potentially explosive atmospheres
If you plug in or pull out connecting plugs during operation, there is a risk of sparkover. An
explosion can be triggered in the hazardous area due to sparkover, and death or serious
physical injury can occur.
Plugging or pulling connecting plugs, such as a 24 V DC power supply plug, is prohibited in
a potentially explosive atmosphere.
Only plug or pull a connecting plug when one of the following two conditions is met: The
area is no longer hazardous or the device and its plug-in connections are de-energized.
To switch off the device, close all open programs or the current project, and switch off the
USB devices
USB interfaces are not permitted to connect with USB devices except for equipment with
Note for using the HMI device within the scope of UL approval:
Explosion Hazard
Do not disconnect while circuit is live unless area is known to be non-hazardous.
Substitution of components may impair suitability for Class I, Division 2 or Zone 2.
Risque d'Explosion
Ne pas déconnecter pendant que le circuit est sous tension, sauf si la zone est non-
dangereuse. Le remplacement de composants peut compromettre leur capacité à satisfaire
à la Classe I, Division 2 ou Zone 2.
Also read the enclosed documentation for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and the
information in the section "Labels, certificates and approvals (Page 167)".
