6.2.1.1 Industrial Thin Client (ITC)
The Industrial Thin Client ITC V3 (ITC) for the distributed configuration permits spatial
separation of the ITC and a SIMATIC IPC for SINUMERIK (IPC) or a SINUMERIK ONE NCU. On
the SINUMERIK ONE, the ITC is used to visualize the user interface of the IPC or NCU.
It is possible to connect one ITC to several IPCs/NCUs. All ITCs and IPCs/NCUs that are
connected to each other via a Gigabit switch form the "system network". The user interface of
an IPC/NCU is copied to several ITCs. This means that all ITCs display the same screen.
Operator actions can only be performed on one ITC at a time. This ITC then has user
authorization. The IPC can also have its own ITC connected directly to it.
The following diagram shows a configuration example for a distributed topology:
The Sinumerik ONE MCP is operated in "Ethernet mode" in the example diagram and has an
integrated Gigabit switch with 2 ports.
The mobile SINUMERIK HT 10 handheld terminal works on the thin client principle and
combines the functions of an operator panel with a machine control panel.
The configuration and cabling of the whole system based on a permissible configuration is
described in Section "Network configurations (Page 140)".
Supplementary conditions
The following supplementary conditions apply for the operation of a ITC:
In the system network, the number of active thin clients is limited:
Maximum 1 HT 10: PPU 1740
Maximum 2 thin clients: NCU 1740
Maximum 4 thin clients: NCU 1750 or NCU 1760
Maximum 4 thin clients: SIMATIC IPC with SINUMERIK PCU Base software
Any number of ITCs can be operated in the system network.
If a PC keyboard is connected to the ITC, it is not possible to ensure that all special keys,
e.g., multi-media keys, will be transferred to the software of the NCU / IPC.
