SVAN 948 USER MANUAL
1 - 1
1. INTRODUCTION
The SVAN 948 is all digital, four channels, Type 1 sound and vibration meter and analyser. It is an
ideal choice for the “Human Vibration” (according to the ISO 2631-1&2 standards) and noise
measurements in the occupational health and safety monitoring tasks. All required weighting filters,
transducers (including triaxial seat accelerometer) are available with this unit.
Four vibration and/or sound channels can work in parallel with independently set-up transducers,
filters and RMS detectors time constant (e.g. simultaneous measurement of the Whole Body and noise
dose).
Large 32 MB internal memory of the SVAN 948 can store time history for all channels over the
whole working day. Measurement results are easily downloaded to any PC using the USB 1.1 interface
and SvanPC software.
The SVAN 948, using computational power of its built-in digital signal processor, can optionally
perform 1/1 or 1/3 octave and real time FFT analysis.
The SVAN 948 can be used in hard environmental conditions, also in the field of the machinery
condition monitoring.
Robust, lightweight construction fulfils the exceptional features of this instrument.
The main features of SVAN 948 instrument are as follows:
SVAN 948 as Sound Level Meter & Analyser
• noise measurements (SPL, LEQ, SEL, Lden, Ltm3, Ltm5 and statistics) with Type 1 accuracy in the
frequency range 10 Hz ÷ 20 kHz
• parallel IMPULSE, FAST and SLOW detectors for the measurements with A, C or LIN filters
• 1/1 octave and 1/3 octave real time analysis (optional) - 15 filters with centre frequencies 1 Hz ÷
16 kHz, Type 1 - IEC 1260 and 45 filters with centre frequencies 0.8 Hz ÷ 20 kHz, Type 1 - IEC 1260
• FFT calculation (1920 lines in real time up to 22.4 kHz with Hanning window and linear averaging)
spectra parallel to the SLM operation (optional)
SVAN 948 as Vibration Meter & Analyser
• vibration measurements according to ISO 2631-1 with Type 1 accuracy (ISO 8041) in the frequency
range 1 Hz ÷ 20 kHz
• parallel PEAK, RMS (incl. MTVV) and RMQ (incl. VDV) measurements
