1. General
Use the data in paragraph 2.1 and paragraph 2.3 to make an analysis of the of the
condition of the cylinder liner, piston and piston rings.
The wear rates are related to the type of fuel used, the engine load profile, ambient
conditions etc, during engine operation.
Visual inspections will show critical conditions of cylinder liners and piston rings after
a short time. For more data to monitor the cylinder liner and piston ring conditions,
see the Operation Manual 0750−1 Lubricating Oils.
When you measure and record the piston ring grooves, the data is used to calculate
the wear.
