SAMPLE Function
This section describes the PLAY-mode SAMPLE function. You can use this function to
assign samples to programs, to save samples to disk, and to build sample banks.
SAMPLE - SmpSel (Select Sample)
Selects sample (or sample bank) for playback or editing, or saves data to disk.

Use this page to assign samples to the current program, to select samples for editing, or
to save the selected sample to disk.
Knob 1 Change Page Select P/S
• Turn the knob to change to a different page within the SAMPLE function. Available
pages are: SmpSel (this page), SmpBank, ToBank, and SmpSort.
• Push the knob to move to the Program/Sample Selection screen. (☞95)
Knobs 2, 3
Sample = sample name Edit the Name
• Turn either knob to select a sample (or sample bank) for program assignment or disk
save. Once you have selected the sample, you can use Knob 4 to assign it to (or de-
assign it from) the current program, and you can use Knob 5 to save it to disk.
If you select a sample bank, a [B] mark appears in front of the name. If you select a
stereo sample, an [S] mark appears in front of the name.
If you select a new or edited sample that has not yet been saved to disk in its current
form, an [E] (“edited”) mark appears to the right of the name.
• If you wish to set or change the sample name, push either knob to proceed to the
name-editing screen. For information about how to edit name strings, see “Entering
Names” (☞88).
