IP Address Changing
Issue Possible Cause Recommended Solution
My printer reassigns a
new IP address to the
print server after the
printer has been off
for a while.
The settings for your network
are causing the network to
reassign a new IP address.
If the printer changing IP addresses causes
issues for you, follow these steps to assign it a
static IP address:
1. Find out what values need to be assigned
to the IP address, subnet mask, and
gateway for your print server (wired,
wireless, or both).
2. Change the appropriate IP protocol value
to PERMANENT. See WIRED IP
PROTOCOL on page 135 or WLAN IP
PROTOCOL on page 140.
3. Change the values for the IP address,
subnet mask, and gateway for the
appropriate print server to what you want
them to remain.
Wired:
WIRED IP ADDRESS onpage132
WIRED SUBNET MASK onpage133
WIRED GATEWAY on page 134
Wireless:
WLAN IP ADDRESS onpage137
WLAN SUBNET MASK onpage138
WLAN GATEWAY on page 139
4. Reset the network using RESET
NETWORK onpage147 to save the
changes.
