Monthly Maintenance Procedures
Reagent Syringes
The reagent syringes need to be cleaned on a regular basis to prevent
reagent residue buildup, which may cause leakage or improper
functioning. Syringes should be cleaned one at a time to ensure that each
syringe is replaced in the correct position. Replace each syringe after it is
cleaned and then remove the next one to be cleaned. The WBC syringe
assembly is depicted in Figure 9.8.

Materials Required
1. A large container filled with approximately 500 mL of warm water
2. Lint-free wipes and gauze
3. Distilled water
4. Small container of each reagent to refill the clean syringes
5. Gloves, lab coat, and suitable eye protection
