Recovering the Administrator Password
Recovering the Administrator Password
You can access the switch if you forget the administrator password by following the directions in
Table 2-8.
Symptom You forgot the administrator password for accessing a switch.
If you can access Device Manager, recover the administrator password by following these steps:
Step 1 Create a text file on the TFTP server containing the desired user name and password:
"username admin password 0 admin123"
Step 2 Click Admin > Copy Configuration to copy the file from the TFTP server to the running configuration
on the switch.
Note The clear text password "admin123" will be copied over the existing password and encrypted in
the running configuration.
Step 3 Click Device > Command Line Interface to log into the switch and verify the new password.
Step 4 Click Admin > Save Configuration to save the running configuration to the startup configuration.

You forgot the administrator password for

You can recover the password using a local console connection. For the
