SpO₂
●WhenusingtheMaximumSensitivitysetting,performanceoftheSensorOff
detectionmaybecompromised.Iftheinstrumentisinthissettingandthesensor
becomesdislodgedfromthepatient,thepotentialforfalsereadingsmayoccur
duetoenvironmental“noise”suchaslight,vibration,andexcessiveairmovement.
●Donotloopthepatientcablingintoatightcoilorwraparoundthedevice,asthis
candamagethepatientcabling.
●AdditionalinformationspecictotheMasimosensorscompatiblewiththepulse
oximeter,includinginformationaboutparameter/measurementperformance
duringmotionandlowperfusion,maybefoundinthesensor’sdirectionsforuse
(DFU).
●CablesandsensorsareprovidedwithX-Caltechnologytominimizetheriskof
inaccuratereadingsandunanticipatedlossofpatientmonitoring.Refertothecable
orsensordirectionsforuseforthespecieddurationofthepatientmonitoringtime.

Withmotion,theplethysmographicwaveform(orSpO

waveform)isoften
distortedandmaybeobscuredbytheartifact.WithMasimoSETtechnology,the
plethysmographicwaveformisnotanindicationofsignalqualityorvalidity.Evenwith
awaveformobscuredbyartifact,MasimoSETtechnologyisabletoreadthroughthe
noiseandlocatethearterialpulsation.
AlthoughMasimoSETtechnologyprocessesSpO
2
measurementsdifferentlythan
otherSpO
2
technologies,thefunctionandappearanceisessentiallythesameasother
technologies.ThefollowingmeasurementguidelinesapplytoMasimoSETtechnology
