TheDINAMAPSuperSTATtechnologyestimatesthesystolic,meanarterial,anddiastolic
valuesbyevaluatingallcuffpressuredatagatheredduringanNIBPdetermination.
Foradultsandchildren,whenECGisbeingmonitoreditprovidesandconrms
moredetailedtiminginformationfortheSuperSTATalgorithm.Atthebeginningofa
SuperSTATNIBPdetermination,thecoefcientofvariationfromtheprevious120ECG
RRintervalsisusedtodetermineifanirregularrhythmispresent.
Therstdeterminationinitiallypumpsuptoadefaulttargetcuffpressureofabout
135mmHgforadults,125mmHgforchild,or100mmHgforinfant.Theinitialtarget
pressurepresetcanbeadjustedifyoudesirealower(orhigher)initialtargetpressure.
Toallowforrapidsettlingofcuffpressure,themonitorwillmomentarilyinatetoa
higherpressure,thenimmediatelydeatetothetargetpressure.
Asadeterminationistaken,thepatternofthepatient'soscillationsizeisstoredasa
functionofpressure.Inanysubsequentdetermination,asfewasfourpressuresteps
maybenecessarytocompletetheprocess.Whenemployingfewerpressuresteps,the
systemusesthestoredinformationfromthepreviousbloodpressuredeterminationto
decidethebestpressurestepstotake.Theconsistencyofpulsesizesaremeasuredto
telliftheoscillationstakenatasteparegoodandifmorestepsareneeded.
Ifthecurrentbloodpressurereadingissimilartothepreviousreading,some
informationfromthepreviousbloodpressuremaybeusedinthecurrent
determination.Thedataisconstantlyevaluatedduringameasurementtotryto
performabloodpressuredeterminationintheshortestpossibletime,providing
greatercomforttothepatient.
Ifithasbeen16minutesorlesssincethelastdeterminationandthecurrentblood
pressureissimilartothepreviousreading,themonitorwilltrytomakeanaccelerated
determinationofbloodpressure.
Duringirregularrhythms,onlypulsesfromthecurrentdeterminationareusedin
calculatingthebloodpressurevalues.Inordertoensureadequateartifactrejection
capabilityandoptimalSuperSTATNIBPperformance,severalcriteriausedto
matchandqualifytheoscillometricpulsesateachpressuresteparerelaxedwhile
supplementingthecriteriawithadditionalinformationfromECG.

TheDINAMAPSuperSTATtechnologyincludestheDINAMAPStepDeationtechnology.
Duringthedeationprocess,theCARESCAPEONEmeasurestwoconsecutive
pulsationsincuffpressure.Iftheiramplitudediffersbyanacceptablysmallamount
andthetimeintervalbetweenthepulsationsmatchestheprevioustimeintervals,
thepulsationsareaveragedandstoredalongwiththecorrespondingcuffpressure.
Thecuffisthendeatedtothenextstep(instepsof5-10mmHg).Asthedeation
occurs,oscillationwavesareassessedforstrengthandamplitudeuntilthemaximum
oscillationamplitudeorMAPisobtained.
