CONDUCTIVECONNECTIONS.Extremecaremustbeexercised
whenapplyingmedicalelectricalequipment.Manyparts
ofthehuman/machinecircuitareconductive,suchas
thepatient,connectors,electrodes,transducers.Itis
veryimportantthattheseconductivepartsdonotcome
intocontactwithothergrounded,conductivepartswhen
connectedtotheisolatedpatientinputofthedevice.Such
contactwouldbridgethepatient’sisolationandcancelthe
protectionprovidedbytheisolatedinput.
WARNING
DELAYEDASYSTOLEALARM.Thepulsatileheartratemay
haveaslowerresponsetimethantheelectricalheartrate
wherethereisalowperfusionpatientcondition.Whenusing
theIntelliRatefeatureinthissituation,thedevicemaydelay
callinganASYSTOLEpatientalarm.Theusermayelecttoturn
theIntelliRatefeatureoffforpatientsatriskoftheseevents,
otherwisepatienttreatmentmaybedelayed.Suchpatients
shouldalwaysbekeptundercloseobservation.
WARNING
NOISYECGalarm.TheNoisyECGalarmindicatesthatthe
systemisnolongermonitoringECGandtheremaybenoHR
high,HRlow,TachyorBradyalarms.Ifyouadjustthealarm
prioritylevellowerthanthedefaultvalue,keepthepatient
underclosesurveillance.
WARNING
ARRHYTHMIAPAUSEDalarm.TheArrhythmiapausedalarm
indicatesthatthesystemisnolongermonitoringECGand
theremaybenoHRhigh,HRlow,TachyorBradyalarms.
Ifyouadjustthealarmprioritylevellowerthanthedefault
value,keepthepatientunderclosesurveillance.
WARNING
INACCURATEHEARTRATEINDICATION.Theelectricaland
pulsatileheartratevaluesprovidedbythevariousmonitored
parameters(ECG,SpO
2
,bloodpressures)maydiffermarkedly.
Thesedifferencesmaybeduetounderlyingphysiologic
conditions(e.g.,electromechanicaldissociation,pulseless
electricalactivity,non-perfusingrhythms)ortoinaccuraciesin
theheartratevaluescausedbyartifact,poorsignalquality,or
arrhythmias.TheusermayelecttoturntheIntelliRatefeature
offforpatientsatriskoftheseevents,otherwisepatient
treatmentmaybedelayed.Suchpatientsshouldalwaysbe
keptundercloseobservation.
WARNING
ELECTRODES.Wheneverpatientdebrillationisapossibility,
usenon-polarizing(silver/silverchlorideconstruction)
electrodesforECGmonitoring.Polarizingelectrodes(stainless
steelorsilverconstructed)maycausetheelectrodestoretain
aresidualchargeafterdebrillation.Aresidualchargewill
blockacquisitionoftheECGsignal.
WARNING
DEFIBRILLATORPRECAUTIONS.Patientsignalinputslabeled
withtheCFandBFsymbolswithpaddlesareprotectedagainst
damageresultingfromdebrillationvoltages.Toensure
properdebrillatorprotection,useonlytherecommended
cablesandleadwires.
