6-2
For efficient use of storage, use drives that have the same capacity to build a RAID. If the drives
have different capacities, the lowest capacity is used across all drives in the RAID. Whether a
drive with extra capacity can be used to build other RAIDs depends on the storage controller
model. The following storage controllers do not allow the use of a drive for multiple RAIDs:
{ RAID-LSI-9361-8i(1G)-A1-X.
{ RAID-LSI-9361-8i(2G)-1-X.
{ RAID-LSI-9460-8i(2G).
{ RAID-LSI-9460-8i(4G).
{ RAID-P460-B4.
{ HBA-H460-B1.
If the installed drive contains RAID information, you must clear the information before
configuring RAIDs. For more information, see the storage controller user guide for the server.
