3. Power off the system from the control panel.
Remove the cables and connections from the secondary I/O towers so that HSL
ports A0 and A1 connect only the Base I/O Tower to the System Unit. This is a
minumum configuration for IPL.
Note: The connections to any I/O towers other than those connected to ports
A0 and A1 should not affect this procedure.
Power on the system.
Does the same SRC occur ?
Yes No
↓ Follow the service actions for the new SRC.
If the IPL is successful, then the failing item is in a secondary I/O
tower. Restore the I/O Towers one at a time until the problem is
isolated.
4. Is this system a Model 830 with SB2 System Unit and FC 9074 ?
Yes No
↓ Go to Step 6 of this procedure.

Replace the following FRUs in order one at a time until the problem is
resolved. See “Chapter 4. Removal and Installation Procedures” on page 617.
Note: Be sure to IPL in SLOW OVERRIDE mode after each replacement.
a. Network Interface Controller Card in location M06 in the 830 System Unit.
b. Clock Card in location M06A in the 830 System Unit.
c. Processor Regulator Card in location M01 in the 830 System Unit.
d. Processor Card in location M03 in the 830 System Unit.
e. Processor Card in location M04 in the 830 System Unit.
f. System Unit Backplane in location MB1 in the 830 System Unit.
6. This is a Model 840, SB3 System Unit and FC 9079 Base I/O Tower.
See “Locations — Models 840, SB3 System Unit with Processor Tower and FC
9079 Base I/O Tower” on page 719.
Replace the following FRUs in order one at a time until the problem is
resolved. See “Chapter 4. Removal and Installation Procedures” on page 617.
