REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS, PART 1
Mounting Engine in Stand
The engine weighs approximately 2,300 lbs.
(1043 kg) wet. Stay out from under the engine
when it is being lifted. Failure of the lifting
device could result in serious injury or death.
Make sure to use lifting equipment that is
rated at a capacity greater than the weight of
the engine.
Engine stand, Kent-Moore tool number J 29109,
and adapter plate J 38048, are recommended to
safely support the engine during disassembly and
reassembly procedures.
Avoid using an engine stand that supports the
engine on the oil pan rail while the oil pan is still
installed. Damage to the oil pan, pan gasket or
the isolators may result. If this type of stand must
be used and the oil pan is to remain installed,
support the engine on the pads provided at each
corner of the cylinder block as shown in
Figure 127.
