Front Cover Removal
[211 RP]
The engine can remain inverted on the stand or
rotated with the cylinder deck up for removal of
the front cover and auxiliary shaft if preferred.
1. Remove the front engine mount pedestal by
removing the six retaining capscrews. Refer
to Figure 173.
2. Remove the remaining mounting capscrews
from the front cover.
3. Remove the front cover. It will be necessary
to pry the cover from the engine block. Be
careful not to damage the cover or block
while using sharp tools around the machined
surfaces.
4. Remove the crankshaft seal from the cover
and discard the seal.

1. Remove the auxiliary shaft gear retaining
nut.
2. Using a suitable puller such as J 4558-01,
remove the auxiliary shaft gear from the
splines on the end of shaft (Figure 175).
