Oil Pump Removal

Refer to Figure 172.
If the oil pump must be disassembled for any
reason, it will be easier to loosen the housing
cover retaining capscrews, the screen, the oil
inlet tube capscrews, the cover plate capscrews,
and the relief valve cap while the pump is still
secured in position. Do so before loosening the
three retaining capscrews.
The screen for the oil inlet tube is held in place by
a steel retainer ring.
Remove the oil pump as a unit by removing the
three retaining capscrews.
