Operating and Maintenance Manual Hardware Connections 27
stripped and tinned leads, for connection to the desired power plug (certified attachment plug
cap.)
Install a certified attachment plug cap, with suitable electric ratings, in accordance with local
safety standards.
If a plug is to be installed, the following connections should be made:
• Green with yellow stripe Connect to earth ground
• Blue Connect to Neutral side of power mains
• Brown Connect to Line (hot) side of power mains
In some cases there will be no distinction between the Neutral and Line side of the power
mains, in which case either lead can be connected. Contact a qualified electrician for
additional assistance.
To connect the power cord to the instrument, locate the power input connection on the rear
panel of the instrument. Align the notch in the power cord with the notch on the input
connection and push the connector into place. Firmly tighten the nut to the back panel.
Power Requirements
Plug the power cord into an appropriate wall outlet, at 100 to 240 VAC, 50 to 60 Hz.
Note: It is recommended that the instrument be connected to an Uninterruptible Power
Supply (UPS). This will ensure data integrity in case of power failure. A UPS can also serve as a
line conditioner and a surge protector. In areas where power failures are common, a UPS with
a 30 minute power supply is recommended. Likewise, Windows NT should be shut down
correctly for data to be properly filed (See Instrument Shutdown on page 56 for details).
