SETTING UP USER ACCOUNTS
Administrator
There are many references to Administrators and Administrative access throughout this chapter
and the next, and it can get confusing. This is because both Windows NT and the Exacta
Instrument contain both Administrator and Administrator Groups. All users of the instrument
will be in the NT Administrator group, but only the NT User Administrator (the one user with
the username Administrator) can access the NT settings and account information. Only the
NT User Administrator need concern his/her self with these two chapters.
Note: All references to the Administrator in this manual refer to the NT User
Administrator. (the only user with the username Administrator).
The Exacta Instrument has TWO access configuration areas.
NT - The system uses Windows NT for its primary security settings. At initial logon, an NT User
Administrator must set up the NT security measures. Usernames and passwords will be
required to access the instrument, and must be entered in specified areas. This chapter details
the initial Windows NT User Management.
EXACTA - Instrument access levels for Exacta are configured separately, within the Exacta
software. For instrument access configuration, see the next chapter titled Managing User
Access beginning on page 71.
Both of these operations must be completed by the NT User Administrator.
Procedure
From the Control Menu, select Tab 2 and choose
.
The NT User Manager window will appear as shown in Figure 27.
