Major Alarms
Output PortXX Fail
(where XX is the
number of the port
and can range
from 01 to 40)
OPPTFLXX
(XX is a
number in
range from
01 to 40)
An output port alarm has been
detected on the specific port
identified. For example, OPPTFL32
indicates that a port alarm has
been detected on port 32. The
specific output card is identified by
the <aid> in the alarm message.
If event codes OPPRFL or OPTALMEXT
are also present it is likely that the cause
of the port alarm is associated with an
external condition rather than an actual
fault with this output port. See
descriptions of those events in this same
table.
1. Attempt remote clearing of the port
alarm using the CLRPTALL keyword
(see description in Keyword section).
2. Try replacing the output card that has
indicated the fault. If the replacement
card indicates the same fault, it is
likely that an external condition exists
that is causing the reporting of the
fault.
For further details, see "Output Port
Alarms in TimeHub 5500" in the
Functional Description section in
Chapter 1 of the TimeHub 5500 System
Guide.
Alarms on same
ports - check
external
conditions
OPTALMEXT
A port alarm has occurred on the
same port on both output cards in
the indicated card group. For
example, port 18 on both output
cards in master shelf output group
C are both detecting a port alarm.
1. Most likely there is an external cause
for the port alarms since it is unlikely
to experience a true port failure on
the same port of both output cards.
Check external conditions associated
with this connection. If problem is
due to external condition, alarms will
clear when external cause is
removed.
2. Attempt remote clearing of the port
alarm using the CLRPTALL keyword
(see description in Keyword section).
3. If no external cause is found, it is
possible that both cards experienced
a failure (most likely due to some
external event). Try replacing one of
the output cards to see if it also
detects a failure.
For further details, see "Output Port
Alarms in TimeHub 5500" in the
Functional Description section in
Chapter 1 of the TimeHub 5500 System
Guide.
