Glossary and Acronyms
Terminal End-user equipment that is part of an ISDN
equipment configuration. A TE1 is equipment that is directly
(TE) compatible with the ISDN network. A TE2 is
equipment that is not directly compatible with the
ISDN network.
TEI Terminal Endpoint Identifier. A unique identity given
to the terminal by the network (between 64 and
approximately 126), or fixed by the TE (between 0
and 63).
Teleservice A type of telecommunication service that provides the
complete capability, including terminal equipment
functions, for communication between users according
to protocols established by agreement between
administrations and/or telecoms providers.
Teletex Data transmission standard designed for transmission
of word-processed documents.
Terminator A resistor connected across the ends of a transmission
line to provide a constant impedance, to reduce
reflection and distortion of signals travelling down the
transmission line.
TNV Telecommunications Network Voltage circuit. A test
circuit for definition of safety in a telecoms system.
Tracer The name given to the
AuroraPlus function which lets
you capture ISDN signalling information from the D
Channel to
AuroraPlus’s memory. This information is
often termed ‘decode’.
Twisted pair Cable in which a pair of wires are twisted around each
other, to minimise noise from other circuits.
