Technical Term Explanation
Display
Display providing information on status for the user.
Display-Controller
Labeler-Controller with integrated display for text information (s.
Display) and keypad for operation as well as programming.
Edge Detection
The edge (front or back) of a product or label that will cause the
detector to send a detection signal.
EEPROM
Abbreviation for “Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only
Memory“.
Memory unit on which data can be read and written (pro-
grammed). The memorized information will not get lost and re-
main also without power supply.
Factory Setting
Comprises all basic adjustments of the system after manufactur-
ing which may differ from the condition after a system setup.
Software parameters are reset by a reset to the factory setting
(default values) and formerly adjusted values are lost.
Factory installable option
Options that are installed and tested in the factory with receipt of
system order.
Field installable option
Field installable options are available ex-stock and may by in-
stalled by the customer on-site at the labeler.
Home Position
Basic or home position of the tamp at the peeler bar.
HMI
The user interface (HMI) is the place where the user comes into
contact with the system. The Alpha Compact can be equipped for
selection either with HMI panel or HMI display.
Input-Mode
Mode in which a numeral value in the display can be adjusted
higher or lower.
Labeler
Application System for an automatic application of labels.
Label Applicator
See Labeler.
Label Feed
Feeding of a label. Via the [Enter]-button the drive motor of the
labeler-rewinder is activated and transport of the label web is
started (dancer arm loosens the unwinder brake band). The fed
label is peeled off the liner at the peeler bar.
Label Gap Sensor
See Label Sensor.
Label Gap
Gap between two labels on the label web. The gap is identified
by a label sensor of the labeler.
Label Liner
Siliconized liner paper that the labels are affixed.
Labeling Mode
Equates to normal mode. The labeler is ready for the application
of labels.
Label Out
An optical sensor (reflective light sensor) for identifying the end of
the label roll.
Label Sensor
An optical sensor for identifying the label gap.
