1.4 Operating Environment
This section describes the required environmental and power supply conditions.
1.4.1 Environmental Conditions
The 6240B must be installed in an environment meeting the following conditions:
• Ambient temperature: 0 ºC to +50 ºC (temperature range for operation)
-25 ºC to +70 ºC (temperature range for storage)
• Relative humidity: 85 % or lower (without condensation)
• Location not subject to corrosive gasses
• Away from direct sunlight
• Dust free
• Vibration free
• Noise free
The 6240B is designed with full consideration given to the noise contained in the AC power line.
Nevertheless, it is recommended that the 6240B be used in an environment with as little line noise as
possible.
If line noise is unavoidable, use a noise filter.
• Positioning of the 6240B
A cooling fan is located on the rear panel and vents are located on the side panels. Do not block the
fan and vents. Leave at least 10 cm of free space between the rear panel and the wall. Also, do not
position the 6240B in a position with the rear panel facing down.
Obstructing the vents will cause the internal temperature to rise, possibly causing faulty operation.
• Mounting in a rack
Ensure that exhaust air from other devices is not directed at the vents on the side of the 6240B.
To prevent the temperature in the rack from rising, install a heat sink fan.
